Decomposers

Not truly animal, not truly plant, fungi are their own category. They are the super communicators, carrying the messages of the forest via miles of mycelium. Some hold healing, some hold poison. They eat decay to clear the way for new life to grow. Silent (to human ears), they weave the stories of the forest together.
